It seems that almost everyone uses Google. Their system works well and people seem to get the results that they want. Google makes its money through advertising. The ads that we see when we search generally do not interfere with the process and are not obvious. This week’s article is about how that is going to change. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that addresses my questions and expresses your opinion about the topic.
Is it wrong for Google to change the format of its advertising? What sorts of things are appropriate for Google to include in its advertisements? Google introduced universal search last year. Can you think of an example of its effect that you have seen? Look at the comments below the article. Do you agree with people’s reactions? Will you stop using Google if the format of their advertising changes?

Well, Google has the right to do whatever they want because it’s their search engine. So, it is not wrong for Google to change the format of its advertising. Google can include advertisements about car, house, book, or television show. To be honest, I have not seen a universal search. But I can think about celebrities on universal search because there will be stories, pictures, and videos about them. I do not agree with people’s reaction because I will continue to use Google. I will not stop using Google because it’s my favorite search engine even if they change the format of their advertising.
Google should be able to do whatever they want to their site. It is like arguing about someone wanting to rearrange their furniture in their house. Google should have advertisements for websites, cars, houses, music, food, and more. A universal search is always helpful, like if you wanted to see how many McDonald's there are in the world. I will still definitely use Google no matter what they do or change their site. I think that if they change something it is for a reason.
I do not think that it is wrong for Google to change the format of their advertising. They should be allowed to advertise any way they want. I think that anything is appropriate for Google to include in their advertisements because of freedom of speech. I some what agree with the comments at the bottom of the article. I would not like Google to change the format of their advertisements, however I would continue to use the search engine because of how effective it is.
Google is a site that is huge thing in the internet community, most probably any internet user has used Google. So Google has the right to do whatever they want, so they have the right to change their format of advertisement. They can have any advertisements ranging from Cars to Movies to types of computers. Universal searches are very good because they allow you to see many things such as look at what attractions they have around the world for example. Google has helped me in many ways, from looking through to see what type of car i want when i grow up to helping me do research when i have a project.
It is not wrong for Google to change its format of advertising. Yet unlike other advertising providers, advertising on Google would work as pop ups-so people have a choice to look at the advertisements that they are actually interested in looking. I have not heard of the Google Universal Search. Yes, I can empathize with the people-one of the only reasons people are using Google is because it’s clean of advertisements with images and videos. It will depend-if Google overdoes the advertisements like Yahoo, I might have to switch to some other search engine.
I agree with Joseph that Google does have the right to do whatever they please, it's their company. No, of course it's not wrong for Google to change their advertising. Appropriate things would of course have to be analyzed and chosen but it would have to be normal things that people would actually consider buying such as cars, magazines, or articles on new places perhaps. I have no idea about universal search and I did not personally notice any difference in Google in the past year. Of course I do not agree with the people's comments since I personally use Google at least five times a day everyday and I will continue to use it, even if Google changes their advertising or whatever they do. I would actually like to see some improvement or change in Google, but no, I will continue to use it.
Google of course may change things as they wish, and no one should be arguing with that. Google has the right to include whatever they want in their ads, and that would be text, image and video clip. I am not quite sure about this universal search. I think I never saw one before even though Google is the search engine I would use daily. Google can do whatever they want, yet it sounds as if they are rather trying to draw our attentions from results we need to ads, which would be pretty irritating if happened. However, I would still use Google as my search engine since they have everything I need on Google.
Google Ad's are well dominating. Seems like nearly every website has that small box that says Google at the top of and ads in the middle of it. It's very recognizable. I already see advertisements in video form and image form. So why shouldn't Google, the top advertisement agency of sorts for the internet, not take advantage of this? I say, shoot for the moon. I hate advertisements in general. That's why I use Firefox and AdBlock. So I can just block out the frames and advertisements and never deal with them again. So, I can endorse Google's test/switch without being affected and possibly increasing their power. It may affect me in the long run but right now, it is harmless.
I prefer using Google over other search engines simply because I can find whatever I want through Google. It’s also easy to use and it has a lot of other interesting features. Google definitely has the right to include as many advertisements as they want. I mean they’re letting people use Google for free so advertising is the only way to make a profit. It really annoys me when I’m doing research and the sites I’m looking at have a bunch of annoying ads and pop-ups. When Google announced it was going to put up more ads, I got kind of worried because ads annoy me. But then I read that they were going to have ads come up that are related to your search so that way you won’t have to be bombarded with a bunch of irrelevant ads. The other cool thing is that plus sign icon Google’s been using. So instead of having videos pop up at you, you can click the plus sign if you want to see the video, and if not it won’t pop up!
I think that if Google change the format of their advertisements it will not affect the overall quality and dependability of Google. Google has been providing the world with excellent quality searches and an easy and amazing search engine. Surprisingly, I don’t see many advertisements on Google. If there are some advertisements, then I still don’t see any harm in what they do. Google should expand by updating the search software. They should have many more options for the searcher to choose from. Personally, I will not stop using Google because of their new system. People that work at Google understand what the general public want in a search engine, so, their new update shouldn’t be too different than their old system. Having the option to play videos for trials and other videos would be an excellent idea. Sometime I feel that I need to quickly go to a trailer or see some other video, this option gives me the ability to quickly view the videos I want.
I believe that its not wrong Google has helped many people and should be able to advertise on there site as they please. In my opinion Google should be able to advertise anything that is appropriate for people of all ages to read. Children’s homepages are Google; everything is Google, if a teacher assigns a research paper first thing to look up is Google. I would never stop using Google unless a better search engine comes out as far as I’m concerned Google gives me my research they can manipulate their site as they please.
I believe that Google has the right to do anything because they have served the people with their fantastic search engine. Google also have the right to advertise the way they please.
But in my opinion, Google should not change the way their advertisements work because a lot of people are used to the way it runs, but if they still are planning to change it I would still use it because it is extremely effective.
I don’t think that it’s wrong for Google to change the format of its advertising because I think people are attracted to videos more than text. I think Google should use both methods instead of just the video method. I don’t think that the universal search has a bad effect or any effect. Because when I Google something on just www.google.com it’s the same as Googling something on www.google.jo. I think the people posting those comments are over reacting because people don’t use Google for advertising, people use Google to research and learn. Yes I will continue using Google after they change their advertising format.
I don't think it's wrong for Google to change their format. Their site has been very useful and successful for the past how-ever many years, and I'm sure if they change their format somewhat, their reliable users won't quit on the and switch to some other search engine. I don't agree with what the people are saying because I personally would still keep on using Google as my trusty reliable search engine. Anyway, it shouldn't matter how the website looks, it should matter on how much you trust the sources and how effective it is.
I think that it would be detremental for Google to change their format of advertising. The one thing that brings people back to Google is its consistency. If they change is such an extreme way, forcing their prospective users to watch these advertisements, then they will loose their hold over the public. Though we live in a capitalist society, we aren't all capitalists ourselves. Some people will see this as a slowing down of the search engine process, and will start spreading bad reviews about Google. And if Google does proceed with this format of advertising, they should be careful, there are underage users, so the advertisements shouldn't be explicit or adult content. Removing those categories of advertisement, also removes a huge majority of the advertisers that pay money to Google. So really nothing will be appropriate to advertise on Google because of the audience that regularly uses Google. No matter what you advertise, when you advertise targetting children, you step into dangerous waters. I also have not seen this universal search introduced by Google, therefore I cannot provide an example. And I do agree with the reactions of some of the readers of the article, but I would not go as extreme as cutting out Google from my life. It's like McDonalds, you can oppose the things that McDonalds does, but because McDonalds has become almost an everyday thing, once in a while, you will think of going out for a quick hamburger fix. The same applies to Google, sooner or later, I'm going to use their search engine, watch an advertisement, and move on.

No, it is not wrong for Google to change the format of its advertising because they are an important enough site to know what should be changed and what shouldn’t. I think however, that they need to consider the fact that the reason they are so popular and user friendly, is because of the lack of annoying advertising on the site. For me, the clear blank and straightforward search page is the only reason I switched from using Yahoo to Google. What is appropriate for Google to use in its advertisements is things that like it said, are relevant to the search of the browser. The people’s comments on the bottom I think are sometimes over exaggerated. These people need to take into consideration Google and the advertising company’s side in this. The internet is a perfect place to advertise, and no one said you have to see the video, you have the option of whether you want to or not.

Of course it isn't 'wrong' for Google to change their advertisements. Ads are certainly annoying, but they are, ultimately, harmless, and they allow us to enjoy many things for free. The whole point is that companies are trying to inform us about a service that they offer, and it only makes sense that they want it to be more noticeable. I can foresee this being mildly annoying, but many of the people who left comments on that article are overreacting. Advertising pays for Google's servers, its employees, and its overall functionality. I will not stop using Google should their advertising format change.
