Happiest Online

Teenagers are referred to as digital natives. They spend a lot of time using digital communication. This week’s article looks at a study of how digital communication affects the psychological and neurological behavior of young people. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that shows you have read the article, expresses your views, and addresses my questions.

The study took place in the UK. Do you think that the results are representative of the rest of the world? Are you part of the 75% that cannot live without the Internet? When do you feel happiest, when you are online or at some other time? Do you agree that “In the future … the need and demand for advice through the internet will become even more critical.”? Were you surprised that 43% of the people being interviewed have known someone who has been a victim of an online scam? Do you know someone who has been the victim of an online scam? Are your visual-spatial skills highly developed? What should be done to provide guidance and support for the “in-between group?”

I think that the results of the study that took place in UK is correct. I do believe that it is about 75% of the world teenagers who cannot live without. Yes, I would say that I am part of the 75% who cannot live without internet. I am almost always using the internet whenever my computer is on. When I am using the internet, I feel the happiest when I am chatting with some friend and when some game, movie or anything else is about to finish downloading I guess I am rarely bored when I am on the internet. Yes I think that the demand for advice through the internet will become even more critical due to the more mobility of internet and technology in the future. Yes, I was surprised that 43% of the people knew someone who had been a victim of online scam. I don't know anyone who has been a victim of an online scam. I guess my visual-spatial skills are well developed. I think that if people who are in the "in between group" they should be made more aware of the responsibilities and problems that they will face in Adulthood. I guess that's how one can provide guidance to that age group of people.

I am not entirely sure if these results are really representative of the honest thoughts and opinions of the “digital natives” in the UK. The statistic that shows that 75% of those polled “cannot live without the Internet” sounds like a huge exaggeration to me, as there is a difference between “cannot live” and “would find immensely disagreeable”. I would say that I am part of the 75% who spends a large amount of time online, but I usually do not feel happiest online. And I do agree that the need and demand for advice through the Internet will become even more critical, simply because it is the easiest and simplest way of contacting people throughout the world. I am not surprised at the large number of people who have been victims of online scams. I think many people do not think or read the fine print before they do something on the internet, due to what they may consider a lack of reality as to what they do on the internet. Furthermore, I would be willing to bet that the majority of these scams took place in the earlier days of the web, as they have been publicized very heavily in more recent times. I do not know anyone who has been the victim of an online scam. I would argue that my visual-spatial skills are fairly well developed. As for providing guidance and support for the “in-between group”, I would say that the most critical step would be teaching this group how to survive on their own and find information more effectively, to help prevent the shock experienced when they leave their “safety net”.

The study in the Uk is definitely correct. I would know as I lived there my self. I think that we can live without it, just we are addicted to it. I am rarely bored on the internet and I am one of the 75% who use it allot. I would much rather be outside though. I think that the demand for the internet advice will go higher later on and I also know some one who has been done through an online scam. It did not go very well and they actually had a loss of some money. I would say I am well developed in the visual-spatial skill. I also say that the "in between group" would need to learn how to go along on their own instead of in their " saftey net"

I think the results doesn't represent the rest of the world. 75 percent will be the common young people, who live in technology. But in some extent, some people doesn't have enough technology to enjoy internet. Also, I think I am one of the 75%, because Internet not only provides enjoyment but it also provides all the communication with my family. The quote about the Internet requirement in future, I totally agree. These days many new advanced technologies are coming, and the Internet will be mandatory for all the technology as they suggest wider information. I'm not surprised at 43% people, who has been victim of an online scam, as online became biggest communication. I don't know people actually is victim of scam land my visual spatial skills are not developed very well. To "in-between group", they need better communication, so they can talk about their problems, and so that people can advise him better. If school or authorized people do that, I think Internet community would be more credible.

Yes I think that the results found can represent the rest of the world. I think that I am one of those 75% that can not live without the internet. I do not feel the happiest online,i am happier without a computer. I agree that the demand for internet will become more critical. I wasn't that surprised that 43% of people being interviewed have been a victim of an online scam. Yes I do know someone who has been a victim on an online scam. I think my visual skills are highly developed. I think that what should be done to help the "in-between group" is to teach them to do the right things on their own.

Yes I do think that the results are representative of the rest of the world. Yes I am part of the 75% that cannot live without internet. I would rather be with my friends, that is when I am happiest. I do agree with, “In the future … the need and demand for advice through the internet will become even more critical.” I was not surprised that 43% of the people being interviewed have known someone that has been scammed. That is because there are a lot of internet scams going around. No I do not know someone who has been a victim of internet scams. Yes my visual-spatial skills are highly developed. I think that the "in-between groups" should learn how to get along.

I think that the study taken in the UK can easily apply to the rest of the world, although I do not think that the study is really accurate at all. I can easily live without the internet as I usually do anyway. I do not feel happiest when I am online because I am usually doing homework online, which naturally means I am unhappy. I do not agree with this statement because until very recently the human race has been using the internet and we have managed to survive until now. I was not at all surprised that 43% of people have been victims of online scams because the amount of people that I know who have successfully scammed people online makes me very aware of online scams. I do not know anyone who has been a victim of an online scam but I know people who have successfully carried out these scams. My visual-spatial skills are quite well developed. I think people of this group should have some commonsense, no guidance should be needed.
