Using a cell phone is not difficult. Walking is not difficult. Combining the two should not be difficult. But apparently it is. This week’s article addresses the growing number of accidents that are caused by distracted walking. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that shows you have read the article, expresses your views, and addresses my questions.
What do you think about the number of pedestrians who go to emergency rooms each year because of accidents that they have while using a cell phone? What do you think about the percentage of people age 16 to 30 who injured themselves? How does this relate to their ability to multitask? What did you think about the study with the clown on a unicycle? Have you ever had an accident while walking and using a cell phone? If so, how did it happen? How did you feel?

I think the number of pedestrians who are injured every year from walking with cell phones is appalling. The percentage of people aged 16 to 30 injured from walking with cell phones is not surprising because people can't concentrate and can be hit by cars when they aren't looking. This shows that people can't multitask very well and should not try. The study about the clown on the unicycle was surprising, mainly because I was surprised that someone would even study that. I have never had an accident while walking and using a cell phone.
By looking at the number of people going to emergency rooms because of using cell phones, I would say that people should be much more careful on using cell phones and walking. That should not cause much trouble but it is important to shut down cell phones or not use them when you are crossing the street or someplace where it is crowded or there are a lot of cars. I think that percentage of people around 16 to 30 years are were injured due to using cell phones because I think that this is the age group who use cell phones the most even when they are walking. It relates to the ability of multitask because people are walking, talking or texting from their cell phones all at the same time. I was kind of surprised with the clown study... and I didn't really get the point of doing that whole experiment. I have never had an accident while walking using a cell phone.
I think that too many people are going to the emergency room because of distraction and phones. I think that the percentage was high on the number of people who injured themselves 16-30. People can't multitask at all. I think that the study on the clown and unicycle was interesting. Yes, i have had an accident while walking and using a cell phone. It happened because I was texting and walking down stairs and I tripped. I felt fine and I just stopped texting.
It is a lot and I think they are really stupid. I am sorry to say that, but if they can not focus on both, they shouldn't do the both. Younger people, who is 16 to 20 must be more adjusted to new technology, and they could do multitasking. But as the age gets older, they were new to the technology, I think that why they have more percentage for accident. Clown on a unicycle study seems to be obvious, that they can not pay attention to objects while they are doing something else. I never had serious accident, but when I walk and text, sometimes I bumped in to people. But before I bumped I never knew person was there, and I thought I had to watch out.
I think that the number of people who are injured every single year from walking with cell phones is ridicules. I have never even thought about having an accident just by walking down the street talking on my cell phone, it is just to simple. I think that the percentage of people aged 16 to 30 injured from walking with cell phones is surprising as it is quite simple to me, but people are careless and do not look where they are going, so I do not think it is because they have cell phones in their hands but more or less the fact that they are not concentrating on what they are doing. I do not think many people can multitask very well. I think that the study with the clown is Strange and interesting but i do not understand why some one would even conduct that experiment. I have never had an accedent whilst walking and using my phone.
I honestly feel that it is absurd that anyone can actually manage to injure him or herself because they cannot walk and speak on a cell phone at the same time. I feel that this represents a severe inability of people aged 16 to 30 to actually multitask effectively. In my opinion, talking on a cell phone and walking represents two completely different mental processes, but it also begs the question as to why one would continue to walk if their call is so important. In regards to the study with the clown on the unicycle, I’m actually surprised that only half of the students not using the telephone saw it – a clown isn’t exactly a common sight on a college campus. I have never had an accident while walking and using a cell phone.
I was extremely surprised when I saw the number of pedestrians that are injured every year. People should really be more careful when walking and talking on the phone. The easiest thing that a person can do is just not talk when crossing a street. The percentage of people between 16 and 30 was also very surprising to me. Multitasking is a very unique thing to do, but why would someone want to multi task when they are putting their own life in danger. The clown study was very confusing to me, it was interesting, but I could not understand why someone would conduct such an experiment.
